reign a Triumph
Hello Reader,
Today I was working from my home...it snowed a little bit but 4-5 cm it was not very cold but we are expecting a polar vortex in the weekend and more snow fall...the temperature will drop to -26C and it will be felt like -35C because of the wind chill..so I have did the shopping from today so I don't need to go out in the weekend as much...a similar weather which we have every winter will visit our neighbors in the South although they are not as used to this kind of whether as we are used to...here are couple of tips to my readers in USA as they might not be used to dealing with this kind of weather...first tip fill up your gas tank of your car...why? because if the power lines broke down which will probably happen because of the weight of the ice/snow or from falling tree branches etc..you would want a place where you can heat up...its not for driving around...driving around is not recommended...second important thing.. get your supplies or basic needs in advance, this might include easy to prepare food (without electricity or in a easy way), flashlights batteries (candles and lighter/matchsticks), third important thing, if you have tap in outside of your house make sure to close its valve from the inside and drain the water....if you have unprotected water lines cover them, fourth important thing if your car is not winterized drain the fluids and use winter fluids rated to low temperature (if you don't want costly repair bills), if this is not possible place your vehicle inside a closed garage....fifth thing you may want to pack an emergency bag (just in case of mandatory evacuations) which contains vital supplies like your medicine, warm spare socks, underwear, clothes, flashlight, water bottle, radio etc...sixth thing you want to make sure that you have a good beanie, gloves, boots, wind breaker and warm socks...the extremities of the body freeze first and the part of the body you loose the most heat is your head (because of high amount of blood circulation happens in the head)....if you find yourself outside in the elements for any reason make sure you are protecting your body from the wind and your clothes from wetting internally by sweat or falling into water etc.. also if you plan to use your fireplace make sure the chimney is clean and/or not closed (there are many fire incidents because people try to heat up by using their fire place which was not used for a long time and the chimney is clogged) also if you try to heat up with your propane barbeque inside remember there are many fire incidents and carbon monoxide/carbon dioxide poisonings happens for this reason so reader from USA you need to be ready for black out, you need to be ready to be stranded in traffic and you need to be ready for the dangers and first of all you need to be ready for making clever decisions...one final tip for the people on the road make sure you have extra warm clothing, flash light, food, water, lighter, tealight candle and gas in your car, these are just in case you get stranded or stuck in a ditch and need to wait for long time...
